Connect Bluesky
How to generate an app password and connect a Bluesky account through the AT protocol.
Bluesky does not yet expose OAuth, so Unison connects through the AT protocol with an app password. App passwords are easy to generate and can be revoked individually without resetting your real Bluesky password.
- 1
On bsky.app, open Settings → Privacy and Security → App Passwords → Add App Password. Name it something like
unison. - 2
Bluesky shows the password once. Copy it now, you will not be able to see it again.
- 3
In Unison, open Settings → Channels and click Add channel, then pick Bluesky.
- 4
Paste your Bluesky handle (for example
you.bsky.social) and the app password you just generated. Click Connect. - 5
The new channel appears in your channel list. Unison stores the app password encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM.

Removing access
Disconnect inside Unison to delete the app password from our database.
Then open Bluesky's Settings → App Passwords and revoke the
unison entry to invalidate the password on Bluesky's side.
Common errors
Authentication requiredusually means the app password is wrong or was revoked. Generate a new one and reconnect.Invalid handlemeans the handle you entered does not match a registered Bluesky account. Use the full handle (egyou.bsky.social).
